E’ il primo libro di un’autrice giovane ed è un libro coraggioso. Può sembrare facile parlare di sé (ogni scrittore lo fa), ma non è sicuramente facile parlare di un sé ammalato. La malattia di Valentina è terribile: essere borderline significa rinunciare a nutrirsi, sballare continuamente, essere autolesionista, prostituirsi; un abisso di dolore che Valentina racconta con grande consapevolezza.
E’ consapevole del perché le accade tutto ciò, del perché le sia impossibile essere normale e del perché, probabilmente, le sarà impossibile per tutta la vita: il dolore si attenuerà, ma rimarrà a farle compagnia per sempre. Si può convivere con tutto e questo finale, difficile da accettare, diviene messaggio positivo.
Al lettore che ha deciso di guardare in questo pozzo scuro di vita non resta che chiedersi se la consapevolezza del disagio psichico aumenti ancor più la sofferenza.
